Buying a House in La Jolla

July 21, 2011 | By | 2 Replies More

Some homes on Mt. Soledad in La Jolla enjoy this north shore view.

Let me guess: When you planned your San Diego vacation, your list of things to do said “San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, snorkel at La Jolla Cove, hit the beach, and hike in Torrey Pines State park.”

However, our mild Southern California climate and beautiful scenery has gotten the best of you, and now you want to look at real estate.

Take heart – you aren’t the first and you aren’t alone. Michelle Silverman of Prudential California Realty specializes in introducing visitors to the La Jolla lifestyle and showing them potential dream homes.

In fact, her website “Views of La Jolla” focuses as much on visitor information as it does on real estate. When we met, I was surprised to meet a Realtor who didn’t want to talk about the last big sale – but really wanted to tell me about the clients from out-of-town who are now enjoying the local lifestyle.

Michelle has been helping people find their place in La Jolla and other areas of San Diego for over two decades and consistently ranks in the top 1-2% of Prudential sales professionals nationwide. She uses Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, phone, and email to stay on top of the ever-changing San Diego market.

On “Views of La Jolla,” you can browse the MLS listings and take a virtual tour of coastal homes for sale, but Michelle – a San Diego native – also has “Community Links” to dozens of helpful sites and a blog that combines real estate news with local visitor attractions and activities.

Most people buy souvenirs when they visit – beachy tee shirts, a watercolor painting of The Cove, a San Diego Zoo mug – but a lucky few acquire a second home, a place to retire, or an investment property.

And if Michelle Silverman is their agent, they also acquire a new friend.

About the Author ()

I live in La Jolla and I'm a travel writer, so in addition to enjoying my home town's great weather, beautiful surroundings, and range of cultural and recreational options, I also see La Jolla - and the rest of San Diego - as a travel destination. And what I see sometimes drives me batty. People vacation in La Jolla, but don't take advantage of everything our community offers, so I decided to start this blog and provide insider advice for out-of-towners. Hey. I figure if I can write insider tips about exotic destinations on Authentic Luxury Travel, I ought to be able to lead readers off the beaten path that starts just outside my front door. In the process, I'm having fun revisiting my favorite places and discovering some new ones. Travel writers are naturally snoopy, and this blog is my excuse to have a good ol' sticky beak around my home town. I hope you find it helpful. If you are coming to La Jolla or another area of San Diego and would like my help in planning your trip, please read "Need Help Planning Your Trip" and then email me at ehansen298@aol.com. Yep. An Orthopaedic Surgeon from Tennessee joined my La Jolla Sightseeing Tour one afternoon. After our visit to Mount Soledad, he fell in love with the area and skipped the rest of the tour so he could spend the afternoon checking out homes with Michelle. She was kind enough to make herself available on a moment’s notice.
