Utas Enterprise Bargaining Agreement

December 19, 2020 | By More

The continuing conflict between the University of Tasmania and the National Tertiary Education Union over staffing agreements has spread to students and sparked a debate on appropriate union action. The occupational health and safety procedure defines the conditions of an agreement between the university and a person wishing to apply for employment in a working environment at home. The University of Tasmania has been negotiating a new staff agreement with the NTEU for more than a year. The conditions of employment at the UTS are determined by various laws, collective agreements, common law and university police, practice and statutes. A university spokesman said the negotiation process “lasted longer than the university had hoped” and that in July, an interim pay increase was granted to all employees. The union pointed the finger at the university because it dragged itself through the negotiation process and delayed the outcome of the negotiation and forced staff to act. Clark Coolkey, president of the TUU Board, said that many students were already stressed by the university`s results and that the threat of retention of their results due to staff actions risked halting graduation ceremonies and student careers. The following documents describe the process that should apply to working from home and instructions for the people leader and team members to make the work of the home comfortable and productive.
