Exciting news: Icon Helicopters heard about the “Delicious La Jolla Foodie Getaway” and offered to treat the lucky winners to a scenic flight along the La Jolla coast.

I can’t imagine a better way to appreciate the beauty of the coastline. The 45-minute flight will swoop past the Del Mar Race Track, the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course, the Gliderport, La Jolla Shores Beach, La Jolla Cove – and turn slightly inland for a birds-eye view of Mt. Soledad.

It's easy to spot the Torrey Pines Golf Course from the air.

A Visual Feast

Owner / Pilot Dave Vernick is looking forward to enabling the contest winners to feast on the beautiful view between nearby Carlsbad and the south end of La Jolla. Icon Helicopters, based at Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, offers popular flightseeing tours and has a reputation for friendliness and commitment to making sure passengers have an enjoyable experience.

During the flight, Dave will point out The Lodge at Torrey Pines where La Jolla Foodie Getaway winners will enjoy dinner at the communal Artisan Table one night. Near the La Jolla Cove, the pink Spanish style La Valencia Hotel – home of THE MED restaurant (another great Foodie Getaway dinner) will be easy to spot.

Imagine going home with aerial photos showing the SeaBreeze vacation rental house you enjoyed during your time in La Jolla. How cool would that be?

If you’ve already entered – great. If not, click here now to win the Delicious La Jolla Foodie Getaway contest …including this fantastic scenic flight.

Thanks, Dave!

About the Author ()

I live in La Jolla and I'm a travel writer, so in addition to enjoying my home town's great weather, beautiful surroundings, and range of cultural and recreational options, I also see La Jolla - and the rest of San Diego - as a travel destination. And what I see sometimes drives me batty. People vacation in La Jolla, but don't take advantage of everything our community offers, so I decided to start this blog and provide insider advice for out-of-towners. Hey. I figure if I can write insider tips about exotic destinations on Authentic Luxury Travel, I ought to be able to lead readers off the beaten path that starts just outside my front door. In the process, I'm having fun revisiting my favorite places and discovering some new ones. Travel writers are naturally snoopy, and this blog is my excuse to have a good ol' sticky beak around my home town. I hope you find it helpful. If you are coming to La Jolla or another area of San Diego and would like my help in planning your trip, please read "Need Help Planning Your Trip" and then email me at ehansen298@aol.com.
