Luxury Car Dealerships In San Diego, California

Bugatti Veyron at La Jolla Shores Beach, San Diego, California.

If you attended today’s La Jolla Concours d’Elegance and now feel the need to own an exotic luxury car, you’ll find plenty of dealerships in La Jolla where you can go shopping. In fact, San Diego’s favorite coastal community makes it easy to buy a car by locating the dealerships within a few blocks of each other.

Heinz Gietz Autohaus has been a La Jolla institution since 1969. Still in its original location on Virginia Way, it is one of California’s original Mercedes-Benz factory authorized service dealers, and they also specialize in certified pre-owned cars.

Symbolic Motor Car Company on La Jolla Boulevard is San Diego County’s only factory authorized sales dealership and service center for Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, and Rolls-Royce cars. They also sell Aston Martins, Alfa Romeos, Ferraris, Jaguars and other luxury marques.Since opening in La Jolla in 1985, they have become known worldwide as a leader in the sales of classic, historic, and competition race cars.

Symbolic’s showroom is often where the public sees new luxury cars for the first time – which is why I was able to ride in a Bugatti Veyron a couple of years ago. The sales team from Germany brought a car and a professional driver to the La Jolla dealership and invited media to experience the million dollar auto rocket. Wow. Going 108 mph on Highway 52 in Friday afternoon rush-hour traffic was memorable – to say the least.

Ferrari of San Diego and Maserati of San Diego, under the same ownership, have showrooms across the street from each other on the corner of Pearl Street and Girard Avenue. Both dealerships sell new and pre-owned vehicles.
Near Symbolic Motor Car Company on La Jolla Boulevard, GrandPrix Classics buys, sells, and accepts consignments of historic sports cars and racing cars. This is also a good place to look for collectible automotive posters. Most of these were produced to celebrate classic automobiles and to advertise historic and memorable races. You can review their poster inventory online.

More car shopping? The Sports Car Company, also on La Jolla Boulevard, is the largest Ferrari wholesale dealer in the U. S. Other car sales include Bentley, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Porsche, and Maserati.

By the way, if you weren’t at the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance today, you missed a great show. This event just keeps getting better and better. If looking at beautiful cars in an oceanfront setting in a charming Southern California community sounds like something you might enjoy – mark your calendar for April 7, 2013.

About the Author ()

I live in La Jolla and I'm a travel writer, so in addition to enjoying my home town's great weather, beautiful surroundings, and range of cultural and recreational options, I also see La Jolla - and the rest of San Diego - as a travel destination. And what I see sometimes drives me batty. People vacation in La Jolla, but don't take advantage of everything our community offers, so I decided to start this blog and provide insider advice for out-of-towners. Hey. I figure if I can write insider tips about exotic destinations on Authentic Luxury Travel, I ought to be able to lead readers off the beaten path that starts just outside my front door. In the process, I'm having fun revisiting my favorite places and discovering some new ones. Travel writers are naturally snoopy, and this blog is my excuse to have a good ol' sticky beak around my home town. I hope you find it helpful. If you are coming to La Jolla or another area of San Diego and would like my help in planning your trip, please read "Need Help Planning Your Trip" and then email me at ehansen298@aol.com.
